📜 Session Overview

Day 2 of the flight to Vysteeri, the party clung to a cramped sky-platform as the pteranodons hauled them onward. Broj stayed almost statue-still while carving his rune-stone, Egg (Agelaius) practiced writing with talons and "adapted" fresh down-feather tufts against the cold, and Warwick attempted to undo the party's ongoing baldness—successfully restoring Sinora's hair via Alter Self, though it flickered through colors (notably red, then black) like the spell itself was indecisive.

Tyelkoron, withdrawn and meditative, carried a new omen in plain sight: a red-orange, coin-sized sun-orb embedded in his hand, with dark veins webbing beneath the skin—power that still didn't feel real to him… until it did.

The day's final rest point was wrong in that special way only "ancient magic infrastructure" can be wrong: a mountaintop platform carved like a massive bowl, filled with stale water and grime. As the party disembarked, momentum and tight footing turned into catastrophe—Sorina went over the edge, and Warwick dove after her. She struck branches on the way down and hit the ground unconscious and bleeding out.

With no easy answer in Warwick's hands, he called for Tyelkoron. Egg empowered Tyelkoron with "Indestructible," and Tyelkoron stepped off the platform to reach her—landing hard, surviving harder, and getting Sorina stabilized while Broj used Realmstrider stonework to open a drain and empty the bowl. The victory had teeth: once the water cleared, the bowl became a slick hazard and, worse, the platform's protections were no longer something anyone trusted.

That night, unshielded and exhausted, the party tried to sleep—and sleep tried to eat them back. Screams tore them awake as Xerocomath rose into the air with golden-yellow eyes, moving like a puppet on a string, physically tracking party members and licking them with eerie curiosity while a psionic aura rippled outward. Guards and pteranodons seized in convulsions. Broj ended the episode the direct way: force, pounding Xerocomath back into himself until the dream cracked and he woke—memories of a Golden Naga clinging to him like dew you can't wipe off.

The party pieced it together: this wasn't "a bad dream." It was a Dream Deity—a presence that can move hosts. Warwick volunteered to take the burden, and the transfer came with shared glimpses: a golden-eyed figure, unfamiliar places, and the unsettling sense of being observed rather than attacked.

Morning brought consequences. The guards' minds were fraying—severe memory loss, confusion about who the party even was, and one guard (notably less affected) missing his tongue yet still trying to hold things together. The pteranodons struggled to fly; desperate fixes ended in a Fly-spell patchwork and reduced mounts. When magic and stamina failed, the platform crashed through treetops—party members breaking branches on the way down, guards injured or killed, and the remaining escort scattering into shock and silence.

In the aftermath, Egg took locks of hair from the dead with the practical optimism of someone planning a future resurrection fund. Vyr cautioned Egg not to mention realmstriding in front of Xavril, and the party did what they could with what they had: pyres for the fallen, salvaging what pteranodons remained, and searching for shelter as the journey to Vysteeri turned from "travel scene" into "survival arc."

⚔️ Key Events

  • Sky Platform Journey: The party continues their cramped aerial journey on day 2. Warwick successfully uses Alter Self to restore Sinora's hair (which cycles through red and black). Egg adapts to grow feather tufts against the cold and practices writing with his talons. Broj continues his stoic stone carving.
  • Tyelkoron's Transformation: Tyelkoron meditates on the changes from accepting the Oni's Sigil Mark from Sinora—a red-orange orb embedded in his hand and black veins beneath his skin. He can now occasionally blast fire beams from his fingers.
  • The Bowl Platform Disaster: The party arrives at a mountaintop platform carved like a bowl and filled with stale water. Broj inadvertently knocks Sinora off the platform. Warwick dives after her, finding her unconscious and bleeding out. Egg empowers Tyelkoron with "Indestructible," allowing him to leap from the platform and revive Sinora while Broj drains the bowl using Realmstrider stonework.
  • The Dream Deity Possession: During an unprotected night's rest, a golden-eyed entity appears in dreams to Xerocomath (as a Golden Naga) and Egg (as a child Oculon). Xerocomath's physical body rises with golden eyes, releasing a psionic aura that causes guards and pteranodons to convulse. Broj violently ends the possession by attacking Xerocomath.
  • The Entity Transfers: The party realizes this is a Dream Deity that can move between hosts. Warwick volunteers to take it. During the transfer, Xerocomath sees visions of Lyra (a High Elven mage with golden eyes and silver hair), while Warwick meets a child Spectator in the loft of Gloomspire.
  • Memory Degradation: The guards begin suffering severe memory loss, unable to remember who the party is or where they're going. Xavril, a guard missing his tongue, is the least affected. The pteranodons also start failing.
  • The Crash: Unable to maintain flight, the platform crashes through treetops. Many pteranodons and two of four guards die in the fall. Egg collects locks of hair from the fallen guards for potential future resurrection.
  • Funeral Pyres: With Xavril's guidance, the party prepares and lights pyres for the fallen, then makes camp in the bowl platform for another night.

👥 NPCs Encountered

Xavril

Role: Guard Escort

A guard who cannot speak due to a missing tongue. Notably less affected by the Dream Deity. He flirted with Sinora using a flare and later helped guide the party in preparing funeral pyres for the fallen.

Xavril

Role: Guard Escort

One of the surviving guards. Vyr specifically warned Egg not to mention realmstriding in front of him.

Lyra

Role: Vision/Memory

A High Elven mage with golden eyes and silver hair who appeared in Xerocomath's shared memories during the Dream Deity transfer.

The Dream Deity

Role: Mysterious Entity

A golden-eyed entity that appears to hosts in dreams, taking different forms (Golden Naga, child Oculon, child Spectator). It seems curious rather than malicious, but its psionic aura causes severe harm to non-hosts.

🔍 Important Discoveries

The Dream Deity's Nature

The party discovered that the golden-eyed entity from the statue in Theros is actually a Dream Deity that can move between hosts. It appears in different forms to different people and seems more curious than hostile. However, its psionic presence causes severe physical trauma to those nearby who are not hosting it, including memory loss, seizures, and even death.

Tyelkoron's New Powers

The Oni's Sigil Mark has fully manifested in Tyelkoron—a red-orange orb in his hand, black veins under his skin, and the ability to blast fire beams from his fingers. The full extent of these powers remains to be seen.

Platform Infrastructure Failure

Draining the bowl platform broke its protective enchantments, leaving the party vulnerable. The ancient magical infrastructure system to Vysteerie is clearly deteriorating, making the journey far more dangerous than anticipated.

✨ Character Moments

Warwick's Heroism

Warwick dove after the falling Sinora without hesitation, and later volunteered to take on the burden of the Dream Deity to protect the party from its harmful effects on non-hosts.

Tyelkoron's Sacrifice

Empowered with "Indestructible" by Egg, Tyelkoron stepped off a sky platform in a dramatic leap to save the bleeding-out Sinora, landing in a hero pose and stabilizing her.

Broj's Direct Action

True to form, Broj solved multiple problems through force—draining the bowl platform with stonework and ending Xerocomath's possession by literally pummeling him back to consciousness.

Egg's Practical Optimism

Egg collected locks of hair from the fallen guards with the pragmatic plan to resurrect them once the party becomes wealthy enough to afford it. He also continued adapting to the environment and practiced writing with his talons despite the cramped conditions.

Xerocomath's Possession

Xerocomath experienced the terrifying ordeal of being possessed by the Dream Deity, rising into the air with golden eyes and uncontrollably licking party members while a psionic aura radiated from him.

💬 Memorable Quotes

"All you can think about is how much better your mom's beard is than yours"

🎭 Looking Ahead

With two guards dead, pteranodons lost, and the party now stranded at the bowl platform instead of safely progressing toward Vysteerie, the journey has transformed from a simple escort mission into a survival situation. The Dream Deity continues to move among the party, and its true purpose remains unclear.

Next Session's Agenda:

  • Arriving at the Elf city of Vysteerie in one piece
  • Healing the wounded
  • Understanding the Dream Deity and its intentions
  • Dealing with the fallout from the guards' deaths
